About us​

Founded by a renowned lawyer, José María Nouel Bobadilla in the mid-19th century, this family farm has come a long way. With the arrival of the first American sugar cane mill on the island, large tracts of land were acquired and planted with sugar cane.

This lawyer became the largest sugar cane producer on the north coast of the island. In 1994, Star Hills Corporations began converting part of this land to real estate. With immediate success in its first Star Hills Estates development, the Corporation decides to initiate a new contiguous development. The Palms at Star Hills began in 2005 and consists of 250 lots that offer the most modern facilities in the area.

Founders

Star Hills Corporation is the brainchild of Spanish-Dominican businessman Juan Ignacio Paliza García, pioneer of real estate development in Puerto Plata. His vision was to create a private community that respects the natural habitat of the region while offering residences and visitors a world-class experience. With the launch of a small hotel known as the Star Hills Hotel, our company began developing this family farm in the mid-1990s. It had 80 hotel rooms, a clubhouse, a pool, a horse ranch, and a polo club. However, our greatest real estate potential was destined for the residential market.

Juan Ignacio Paliza García​

Juan Ignacio Paliza García received numerous awards during his life. These included the Presidential Mention Award given to him by Dominican President Hipólito Mejía in 2004. Mr. Paliza was also the Honorary Consul of Spain on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, a great distinction bestowed on him by His Majesty Juan Carlos de Borbón. . King of Spain, in February 1996. In addition, Mr. Paliza was a permanent member and director of several business associations, such as the National Council of Private Business of the Dominican Republic, the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic, the Chamber of Spanish Commerce of the Dominican Republic, Dominican Federation of Sugar Cane Producers, among others. He also founded the Sierra Pietra Polo Club and the Dominican Aviation Club. He dedicated his life to Puerto Plata and the north coast region.

Margarita Méndez Nouel​

Margarita Méndez Nouel obtained her business skills from the Ponticie Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Florida International University and Barna Business School, in real estate sales and management. She is currently the vice president of sales and marketing for Star Hills Corporation. “

José Ignacio Paliza Nouel

José Ignacio Paliza Nouel graduated in Law from the Universidad Iberoamericana in 2003, and later obtained his postgraduate training at Georgetown University, Wharton Business School and Harvard University in 2005, 2006 and 2007, in International Legal Studies, Business and Public Policies and Public Financial Management respectively.

Rodolfo Paliza Nouel​

Rodolfo Paliza Nouel received his BA in Economics from the Pontificie Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in 1996, and subsequently obtained his postgraduate education from Boston University and the London School of Economics in 2000 and 2001, in Business and Public Finance respectively. He is currently president of PALCA CxA, a sister company of Star Hills Corporation, a leader in the Dominican construction materials industry.
